Who We Are

High Creek is actually a small stream that represents the far North boundary of our cemetery property. We are sure the founding pioneers considered it much more than a simple boundary when they selected its name for our cemetery-church. The crystal clear water here has traveled through this valley and down the tributaries of our rivers for an eternity touching all parts of our world. Our founders saw the community “High Creek” as a similar tributary to the settlement of a new land. They realized our people would come here and settle this country and enjoy this beautiful valley and some would press on to new worlds. However, everyone would recognize the historic importance of this place we know as “High Creek”.

We are the “Community of High Creek”! Our families came here and settled and became part of this area as others have passed through and traveled to new and distant horizons. However, all would remember the importance of High Creek as a mile stone in our history. Now our community reaches far beyond the geography of this valley. It resides within the many descendants of the original ancestors who found their way through High Creek to destinations far beyond.

A few who have had the good fortune to remain in the general vicinity of the High Creek Cemetery-Church, volunteer to manage and help maintain the buildings and grounds of the property. Their goal is to maintain the facilities in its traditional condition. In addition they assist the far reaches of the High Creek Community, as it has grown and expanded, with all of the services that may be requested in addition to conducting the necessary daily business affairs of the cemetery-church.

These operations are organized by an elected board of directors who devote their time to the upkeep efforts. A small group of volunteers graciously offer their hard work with the regular duties in allowing the necessary activities to continue. The Cemetery-Church, still today, reflects the pride represented by our ancestors in the earliest days of this community.
